Q: What’s your business slogan or tagline?

A: #CivilizedDebauchery – because we’re an unpretentious fling with fine dining, while remaining cheaper than Earls. The name Chambar comes from an old French word meaning ‘When the teacher leaves the room and all the kids go crazy’ – that harmless raucous energy, which we translate to our tagline of Civilised Debauchery.

Q: What sets you apart from other businesses in your niche?

A: Bold flavourful food with a deep respect for traditional process. Our atmosphere and in the summer, our patio.

Q: What are you best known for?

A: Our commitment to seasonality and sustainability.

Q: What are your most popular menu items?

A:Our signature Moule Frittes and Lamb Tagine, waffles, lavender latter, award winning cocktail list, thoughtful and intelligent wines, and the largest Belgian beer selection in the city…and our New Years Eve Parties!

Q: How do you participate in your community?

A: By participating in city initiatives toward making Vancouver a green economy. Mentorship and incubator for next generation restaurateurs. Being a culture contributor to Vancouver.

Q: How do you spread the word about your business?

A: Mostly digital promotion on a daily basis.

Q:What do you value most in other businesses?

A: Value alignment.

Q:What inspires and motivates you on a daily basis?

A: Finding inspiration in travel, art, and obscure out of context simplicity of nature. Motivated by the responsibility of the livelihoods of those who work for us, while being high risk tolerance trailblazers.

Q:Any tips to pass on to new business owners?

A: Look to where the puck is going, not where it is. Evolve rather than watching competitors. Never assume you cannot fail. It’s about the people, we’re human and if we don’t look after ourselves, we’re not much good to others. Find gratitude for something everyday!

Q:Do you have any goals for the remainder of 2019?

A: Celebrating 15 years in business with all the people that helped along the way.
